GENDER BASED VIOLENCE:  CIHP PARTNERS KADUNA STATE SEXUAL ASSAULT AND REFERRAL CENTERS

Center for Integrated Health Programs (CIHP) has partnered with four sexual assault referral centers in Kaduna State on community engagement and provision of psychosocial services to Gender-Based Violence Survivors.

This collaboration began with the training of health care providers at these centers to provide quality services to survivors through structural and combination prevention approaches.

CIHP’s Gender Project Lead Oluwaseyi Adegbulugbe says that within three (3) months of the training, SARCS provided comprehensive post Gender Based Violence (GBV)  clinical care services to 390 survivors which is a 50% increase from previous cumulative performance.

The SARC also actively participated in the 16-day activism to end violence against women and girls in 2021. During the program,  1,510 in-school students across four secondary schools in the 3 senatorial zones of the state received information on GBV and HIV infection, HIV testing, and post exposure prophylaxis.

Thanks to Center for Integrated Health Programs, for the training and support, I am now better equipped to provide Post Exposure Prophylaxis services to Gender Based Violence Survivors,”
