Advancing Women in Public Health Leadership: CIHP at the WiPHLA Unveiling

CIHP participated in the official unveiling of the Women in Public Health Leadership for Africa (WiPHLA), held in December, under the theme “Leadership Effectiveness Among Women Leaders at the Frontline of Community Service.” The event brought together public health leaders and stakeholders to spotlight the critical role of women in driving effective health solutions and strengthening community systems across Africa.

The unveiling held special significance for CIHP, as our Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Bola Oyeledun, and Board Member, Dr. Mame Awa Toure, both serve on the WiPHLA Governing Council, reflecting CIHP’s commitment to advancing women’s leadership in public health.

In her keynote address, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), commended WiPHLA for the deliberate commitment to nurturing, supporting, and building women in leadership. She emphasized that women are often the backbone of service delivery and the most trusted voices within families and communities.
