In observance of World AIDS Day, the Centre for Integrated Health Programs (CIHP) made significant strides across its project states – Kogi, Gombe, Lagos, and Kaduna. Under the theme “Let Communities Lead,” CIHP orchestrated a series of events that spotlighted community-driven solutions to end AIDS by 2030.

The overarching theme of “Let Communities Lead” served as a guiding path throughout our World AIDS Day activities. This principle underscores the belief that sustainable change arises from within communities, emphasizing local involvement and advocacy.

As the saying goes, ‘there is unity in action’, road walks became a visual representation of unity and solidarity in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Healthcare workers, key stakeholders, partners, and CIHP staff, marched together, emphasizing the collective responsibility needed to address this health challenge.

To further reach people in the communities, CIHP adopted an innovative approach by hosting radio shows dedicated to public sensitization. Leveraging the power of media, this initiative reached a broader audience, amplifying messages about HIV prevention, treatment, and community involvement.

Recognizing the role of education in prevention, CIHP also conducted targeted sensitization sessions in schools, with a focus on adolescents. The goal is to empower the younger generation with knowledge and awareness, enabling them to make informed choices regarding their health.

CIHP’s strategy revolves around actively engaging with the community, recognizing that lasting change requires community involvement. Beyond raising awareness on World AIDS Day, CIHP aims to instigate enduring change that will persist long after the day has concluded.
